Chief Dan Spizarny, and members of the Erie Police Department spent some time visiting veterans at the Erie VA Hospital during National Salute to veterans week. Chief Spizarny ran into 2 time Olympic gold medalist Bruce Baumgartner, who was visiting the brave men and women of the Erie Veterans Hospital as well. National Salute to Veterans week runs February 11th-15th.

URGENT: The City of Erie's Streets Dept. is reporting that there is dangerous black ice on most of the roads and that vehicles are sliding even on flat streets. We expect a warmup by early afternoon and hopefully everything is going to melt. Erie Police would urge drivers to stay off the roads until the salt they are putting out can be effective. We want everyone to get around the city safely. If you have to go out, please drive carefully and allow extra distance in-between cars and more time for braking. Tunzik gave a tour and showed some of the police equipment to the kids of Ms. Fishers and Ms. Lombardozzi’s 6th through 8th grade students from Strong Vincent High School’s Autistic Support Program this morning. This is a great opportunity for kids to meet and interact with members of the Erie Police.
Erie Police are investigating a robbery at Circle K (603 West 26th St.) that occurred on January 5, 2020 at approximately 06:46 am. Attached are pictures of the suspect, who according to a witness acted as if he was armed. The suspect may have left in a dark colored Chevrolet SUV.
